Environmental Policy

At Hydrologiq, we are committed to protecting the environment and reducing our environmental impact. We believe that responsible environmental practices are an essential part of being a sustainable business and we are dedicated to minimizing our environmental footprint through the implementation of the following policies and practices:

Compliance with Environmental Laws and Regulations:

We will comply with all relevant environmental laws and regulations, as well as other environmental requirements to which our business subscribes. We will ensure that all activities are conducted in an environmentally responsible manner, and we will make every effort to reduce the impact of our operations on the environment.

Resource Conservation:

We will conserve natural resources by reducing our consumption of energy, water, and materials, and by promoting the use of renewable and sustainable resources wherever possible. We will continually seek ways to reduce waste and increase efficiency and will encourage our employees and suppliers to do the same.

Pollution Prevention:

We will prevent pollution by reducing the release of pollutants into the air, water, and soil. We will work to minimize the environmental impact of our products and services by selecting materials and processes that are environmentally friendly, and by promoting the use of non-toxic and biodegradable products whenever possible.

Scope 1, 2, and 3 Emissions Reductions:

We will reduce our Scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas emissions in accordance with the best available science and in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement. At the current stage of our business, we cannot set meaningful emissions targets yet. However, we will be setting such targets as our business grows and as we develop a better understanding of our emission intensity. Specifically, we will:

• Scope 1 Emissions: Our scope 1 emissions will be small as we are not an industrial business. However, we will reduce our direct greenhouse gas emissions from sources that are owned or controlled by our business, such as the combustion of fossil fuels in company-owned vehicles and equipment, by setting ambitious emissions reduction targets and implementing measures to achieve them. We encourage meetings to be held via video conference and where physical travel is required we encourage employees to travel by public transport wherever possible, resorting to car or plane if necessary. 

• Scope 2 Emissions: We will reduce our indirect greenhouse gas emissions from the generation of purchased electricity, heating, and cooling by procuring renewable energy and/or purchasing energy from low-carbon sources wherever possible. Being a remote-first company, we will encourage our employees to switch to renewable energy providers at home, as they will be doing most of their work at home. We will also encourage our suppliers to adopt similar practices.

• Scope 3 Emissions: We will reduce our greenhouse gas emissions that are generated by activities outside our direct control, such as emissions associated with the production, transportation, and disposal of our products and services. We will work with our suppliers and customers to minimize these emissions by setting and achieving shared targets for emissions reductions, and by promoting the use of low-carbon alternatives. Examples of how we do this is by minimising the number of deliveries to site, sourcing green hydrogen first and foremost, or looking to purchase recycled clothing from responsible manufacturers for staff clothing where possible. 

Continuous Improvement:

We will continually improve our environmental performance by setting and reviewing environmental objectives and targets. We will regularly assess the effectiveness of our environmental management system, and will strive to enhance it through ongoing training and education of our employees, and by seeking input from our stakeholders.

Communication and Engagement:

We will communicate openly and transparently with our stakeholders about our environmental performance, and will actively seek their input and feedback on our environmental policies and practices. We will engage with our suppliers, customers, employees, and the community to promote environmental awareness and action.

We believe that these policies and practices are essential to our long-term success as a business and to our contribution to a sustainable future for all. We are committed to implementing this environmental policy and to continuously improving our environmental performance, including the reduction of our Scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas emissions.
